    BPMN: A Meta Model for the Happy Path

    Get PDF
    Recently, the OMG has been working on developing a new standard for a business process management notation (BPMN). This standard development results in documents that contain the newest approved version of a standard or a standard proposal that can be ammended. It is our vision that such a standard document, that also serves as a specification for BPMN modeling tool developers could benefit from a fact-oriented model in which the same domain knowledge is represented conceptually as a list of concept definitions (including naming conventions), a set of information structure diagrams and the constraints or business rules that govern the instances of the information structure diagrams. In this paper we will show precisely, how such a fact-oriented conceptual view on a standard document can be created, and we will show how a fact-oriented approach can improve the completeness of a specification.management information;

    A Formal ORM-to -UML Mapping Algorithm

    Get PDF
    The object-role model (ORM) data structure can be represented in the unified modeling language (UML) using the five fact encoding constructs: class attribute, association, association class, sub-class and the association qualifier. In the existing literature there exist numerous mappings of how individual fact types from an ORM information model can be mapped onto ‘well-formed’ UML expressions. What is lacking in the existing literature is a precise description of the conditions on the ‘source’ object-role model under which a specific UML fact encoding construct can be applied in the ‘target’ UML class diagram. In this paper we will show under what conditions, a specific UML fact encoding construct must be applied in a way that results in a well-formed UML class diagram.computer science applications;

    COMPLIANCE TO QUALITY CRITERIA OF EXISTING REQUIREMENTS ELICITATION METHODS

    Get PDF
    In this article we define a requirements elicitation method based on natural language modelling. We argue that our method complies with synthesized quality criteria for RE methods, and compare this with the compliance of traditional RE methods (EER, ORM, UML). We show limited empirical evidence to support our theoretical argument.computer science applications;

    De totale samenhang tussen de diagramsoorten in UML

    Get PDF
    In dit artikel worden de 9 UML diagramsoorten in hun onderlinge samenhang beschreven. Als uitgangspunt voor deze beschrijving worden de modelleringsconstructies en de modelsoorten uit Kenniskunde gebruikt. Het artikel laat verder zien wat de essentiële diagramsoorten in UML zijn en in welke volgorde deze UML diagrammen dienen te worden gemaakt in een praktijksituatie.computer science applications;

    Adhesions, infl ammatory response and foreign body giant cells infi ltration of the topical hemostats TachoSil®, Hemopatch™ and Veriset™ – An Animal Study

    Get PDF
    Background: When liver bleeding cannot be controlled by conventional methods, a topical hemostatic patch can be applied during surgery. In recent years new hemostats have become available. The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of adhesion and inflammation for three topical hemostatic patches, TachoSil®, Hemopatch™ and Veriset™

    Acid-base status and cardiovascular function in pigs and rats anaesthetized with alpha-chloralose and nitrous oxide

    Get PDF
    Alpha~chloralose possesses distinct advantages in certain types of experiments, i.e. in cardiovascular and gastrointestinal research, The compound, however, has limited - if any - analgetic effect, and surgery can only be performed if additional analgesic drugs are administered. In the present study pigs and rats were anaesthetized with a combination of alpha-chloralose and nitrous oxide. A satisfactory surgical anaesthesia could be achieved in pigs using this method, whereas the dose required to obtain surgical anaesthesia in rats caused severe depression of the cardiovascular system. Moreover, a combined metabolic and dilutien acidosis was seen in the rat

    Temporal patterns of happiness and information in a global social network: Hedonometrics and Twitter

    Get PDF
    Individual happiness is a fundamental societal metric. Normally measured through self-report, happiness has often been indirectly characterized and overshadowed by more readily quantifiable economic indicators such as gross domestic product. Here, we examine expressions made on the online, global microblog and social networking service Twitter, uncovering and explaining temporal variations in happiness and information levels over timescales ranging from hours to years. Our data set comprises over 46 billion words contained in nearly 4.6 billion expressions posted over a 33 month span by over 63 million unique users. In measuring happiness, we use a real-time, remote-sensing, non-invasive, text-based approach---a kind of hedonometer. In building our metric, made available with this paper, we conducted a survey to obtain happiness evaluations of over 10,000 individual words, representing a tenfold size improvement over similar existing word sets. Rather than being ad hoc, our word list is chosen solely by frequency of usage and we show how a highly robust metric can be constructed and defended.Comment: 27 pages, 17 figures, 3 tables. International audienceThis volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the following 8 International Workshops: OTM Academy; OTM Industry Case Studies Program; Enterprise Integration, Interoperability, and Networking, EI2N; International Workshop on Fact Based Modeling 2015, FBM; Industrial and Business Applications of Semantic Web Technologies, INBAST; Information Systems, om Distributed Environment, ISDE; Methods, Evaluation, Tools and Applications for the Creation and Consumption of Structured Data for the e-Society, META4eS; and Mobile and Social Computing for collaborative interactions, MSC 2015. These workshops were held as associated events at OTM 2015, the federated conferences "On The Move Towards Meaningful Internet Systems and Ubiquitous Computing", in Rhodes, Greece, in October 2015.The 55 full papers presented together with 3 short papers and 2 popsters were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 100 submissions. The workshops share the distributed aspects of modern computing systems, they experience the application pull created by the Internet and by the so-called Semantic Web, in particular developments of Big Data, increased importance of security issues, and the globalization of mobile-based technologies

    Recurrent Pneumonia Due to an Appendiceal Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma: A Rare Presentation of a Rare Malignancy

    Get PDF
    Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix is a rare malignancy. This is a report of a 74-year-old man who presented with recurrent pneumonia which turned out to be a postobstructive pneumonia complicating a large mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix with massive retroperitoneal and intrathoracic extension. Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix is a low-grade malignancy characterized by expansive growth due to progressive accumulation of mucinous fluid produced by the cancer cells. The tendency of this tumor to expand massively is well demonstrated by this case. The unusual retroperitoneal location of appendix in this patient probably allowed the tumor to expand massively in the retroperitoneal space and the thoracic cavity. In addition to computed tomography, [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) was used as an ancillary method for staging in this patient. The value of 18F-FDG PET in the diagnosis of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix has not been determined yet, but it might be promising. The most common presentation of this tumor is abdominal pain or a palpable ileocoecal mass. To the knowledge of the authors, this is the first report of an appendiceal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma with expansion into the thoracic cavity presenting with recurrent pneumonia
